What is PLLA?
Over the years, lactic acid polymers have been widely used in different types of medical fields, such as: absorbable sutures, intraosseous implants and soft tissue implants, etc., and poly-L-lactic acid has been widely used in Europe to treat facial aging.
Different from the well-known cosmetic filling materials such as hyaluronic acid, allogeneic collagen and autologous fat, PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) belongs to a new generation of medical regenerative materials.
It is a man-made medical material that can be decomposed and absorbed, has good biocompatibility and degradability, and can be decomposed into carbon dioxide and water by itself in the body.
PLLA has been widely used in the medical field for nearly 40 years because of its safety, and after being applied in the field of medical aesthetics, it has successively obtained licenses from authoritative regulatory agencies in many countries:
1. In 2004, PLLA was approved in Europe for the treatment of massive facial lipoatrophy.
2. In August 2004, FDA approved PLLA for injection to treat HIV infection-related facial fat atrophy.
3. In July 2009, FDA approved PLLA for mild to severe nasolabial folds, facial contour defects and other facial wrinkles in healthy patients.
Causes of aging
The dermis of the skin is composed of collagen, elastin, and glycosamine substances, of which collagen accounts for more than 75%, and is the main component to maintain skin thickness and skin elasticity.
The loss of collagen is the main reason for the breakage of the elastic network supporting the skin, the shrinkage and collapse of skin tissue, and the appearance of dry, rough, loose, wrinkled and other aging phenomena on the skin!
Sufficient collagen can make skin cells plump, make skin moist, delicate and smooth, and effectively prevent skin aging.
PLLA can just meet the skin’s demand for collagen regeneration. It has a very significant promotion effect on the growth rate of collagen, and can achieve rapid growth of collagen density in the skin in a short period of time, and maintain it for more than 2 years.
PLLA can effectively improve the skin’s self-regulation, repair and regeneration functions by stimulating the regeneration of collagen and elastin, stretching the texture.
Solve the problem of lack of moisture in the dermis and the loss of collagen from the root, make the skin cells plump, and the skin return to the optimal state of full moisture, delicate and smooth.
